This makes an interesting comparison with the story of Rebecca Nurse whom I have also written about in the past. She was born in Great Yarmouth in 1621, emigrated to the USA, became a leading citizen in Salem Village before being accused of and then hanged as a witch in hte infamous Salem Witch Trials. It was all a conspiracy against her and Rebecca eventually received a posthumous pardon.
The other plaque informed us that Thomas Vaughan snatched at least 10 bodies from the churchyard in 1827.

On Tuesday evening we popped along to see Hethersett Academy's presentation of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was fab as they say in Scouseland. It must have taken a huge amount of time rehearsing this production and everyone involved can be hugely proud of what they achieved. Rumbustious is the best word I can think of to describe it.

I have avoided commenting to date on the Oscar situation which saw Will Smith slap compere Chris Rock on stage after Rock had made a tasteless joke aimed at Smith's wife's hair loss.
Most people and commentators seem to side with Rock but I have a different view. Yes Smith shouldn't have used violence to make his point but there are lines that comedian's shouldn't cross in order to get cheap laughs.
Had Rock made mad racist or sexist jokes he would have been in trouble. So why is it acceptable to make cheap jibes about other emotive subjects?
Add to that the fact that Rock isn't funny anyway. As I have said he crossed the line and that wasn't acceptable.

When it comes to vocabulary I'm confused. Is it now ok to describe somebody as "Queer! as was done in the Oscars. I believe they referred to one of the actresses as an "openly queer black woman." I have always thought that the word Queer is insulting but maybe things have changed again. Any enlightenment on this subject will be appreciated.
