Below are bits and pieces and snippets of writing that I'm hoping to work on and update:
My Novel
Pirate Radio Article
Grantchester Doesn't Exist
The History of Little Plimpton FC Between the Wars
A Living Death
When Two Worlds Collide
On Visiting Norwich Guildhall
The following are writing projects that I am currently working on and which will eventually appear on this site:
The Beatles and Liverpool
My fascination with the Beatles and their home city of Liverpool has grown over the years and increased following a number of trips to Liverpool which have included taking the Magical Mystery Tour as well as the National Trust tour of the boyhood homes of John Lennon and Paul McCartney. I am particularly interested in the early years when John, Paul, George and Ringo were growing up both together and apart and also the church fete which saw the first meeting of John and Paul. My interest was further fuelled from editing a biography by my friend Alan Mann of Tony Sheridan who was the lead singer on My Bonnie on which the Beatles provided backing.
Propaganda
On the surface a rather strange subject to be interested in, but I am fascinated by the ability that people have to be taken in by propaganda and how gullible people can be in believing exactly what they are told without questioning.
Holidays By the Sea
If you are of a certain age you will remember those British holidays at seaside resorts, vying for that elusive space on the beach and the smell of chlorine amongst the ham rolls at beachside cafes. Now belonging to a bygone age I want to try and evoke the feel of those days.
Pirate Radio
Anyone of a certain age will have grown up with Pirate Radio - the perfect antidote to the dross being featured on the so called establishment radio stations. Along came the likes of Radio Caroline and Radio London and I was hooked to my transistor radio. Many years later as a young reporter on a newspaper in Suffolk I knew and interviewed one of the DJs from those early Caroline Days.
The Rows of Great Yarmouth
The Goldrush
The Beach Huts of Southwold
