Our walk took us past what was once an Anglo-Saxon cemetery and Iceni Market Place. Between 1930 and 1938 burial urns were excavated with 700 burial plots being discovered along with numerous trade tools.
It is thought that Anglo-Saxons cremated the dead with their tools so that they could continue their trade in the afterlife. The site was located on high ground to shorten the spirit's journey to the heavens.
