And the question is can England win the World Cup? Yes they can but they will need some luck and having watched Brazil last night that cup will take some winning.
I have never subscribed to the theory that all Brazil have to do to win a football match is to turn up. World cup after World cup they have been heralded as the greatest of the greats and each time they disappoint.
That doesn't detract from the great Brazil team of the 1960s and 1970s. They truly were great but I reserve judgement on the latest lot to play in Green and Yellow and I'm not referring to Norwich City.
I know this World Cup has been a tad controversial but I'm really enjoying it and there's still some way to go. I promise not to mention football again until England play on Saturday.
Mind you I could also mention cricket and the rush to the blood that is English test cricket at the moment. A new attitude seems to have been adapted with the captain Ben Stokes saying we don't mind if we lose as long as we have a go at winning. That's an attitude that other clubs and sports could adopt. Sport is entertainment, after all people willingly pay to watch it. But all too often we seem to lose sight of this fact and big business takes over from entertainment.
I have been hard at work over the past couple of days on my two publications - Good News and Hethersett Herald. It seems incredible that Herald has completed seven years in existence and is now into its eighth. What started as an idea and something of a hobby now seems to be a respected organ for news on the village. This is rather a responsibility but one that I do enjoy. I still find it strange when people say "we must get something in the next Herald."
It also seems incredible that I have completed my first year as editor of the Good News magazine which is a church-based magazine and which now works hand in hand with Herald. It has a slightly different slant. Herald tackles some of the issues and is a slightly campaigning publication that is only available online, whereas the name Good News slightly gives away the content of the other magazine although I had a laugh with the rector when he announced his departure from the village and I asked him whether he wanted a temporary change of Good News to Slightly Less Than Good News.
See you tomorrow.
