Yesterday was a very varied day when I got recognised twice which was wonderful.
We went off to Wymondham to do a bit of supermarket shopping and also to have a look at the Christmas trees in Wymondham Abbey and then have a cup of coffee at the day centre connected to the Methodist Church.
It's really good to have the Abbey open again after serious problems there which hopefully are now things of the past. I won't go into it all but I'm sure if you Google Wymondham Abbey it will bring up details of the spat between the vicar, the congregation and volunteers which saw the Bishop of Norwich involved.
It also meant that the Abbey was closed for much of the year but, thankfully, is now open again. So off we went to the Methodist Church where our friend Georgette Vale was doing any number of crafty things and making any number of Christmassy things.
Into the back room for coffee and a mince pie and I was just on my way out when a lady said: "I read your blog every day." How wonderful is that? So hello to Maggie.
On the way home we called in at the Christmas Fair at Hethersett VC Junior School and that's where it was like turning the clocks back all those years. I used to be on the PTA at the school when it was Hethersett Middle School. At Christmas we had two main events. One was the annual craft fair and Christmas sale and the other was the Turkey Supper which I'm sure I have mentioned before. Every year the Turkey Supper was oversubscribed with a waiting list. It was simply a Turkey meal followed by a disco but for some reason it was very popular.
The craft fair of all those years ago was pretty much similar to yesterdays with lots of people, lots of stalls and lots of fun things for Christmas. The only real difference was it was situated in a whole new school block as the school now takes all ages from nursery until secondary. It gave me the chance to have a look round the new building. I still have a big soft spot for the school where I was chair of Governors for many years.
Hello to my other bloggette Joy. Husband Colin said her day doesn't really get going until she has read my blog!!!!
I will continue this blog tomorrow with more about our busy day. For now, there's just a couple or so pictures of the craft stalls and quite a few of Wymondham. Hope you enjoy them.
