Very superstitious, writing's on the wall
Very superstitious, ladders 'bout to fall
Thirteen month old baby, broke the lookin' glass
Seven years of bad luck, the good things in your past
Is there anyone out there who finds superstition taking over their lives? I have to say I'm not that bad, but I do get bogged down in silly superstitions.
My latest one is having to make sure I tread on a metal piece at the door of the bedroom. That's going into the room, but I mustn't tread on it on the way out. It's ridiculous, particularly in the middle of the night when its pitch black and I have to feel for it with my right foot.
I also have this counting thing going which I've talked about before. I will count my steps between two points and try to guess beforehand how many steps it will take. Actually, there is a point behind this. Having my marathon walk still going it helps the time to pass whilst I'm walking. Walking relatively large distances day after day after day can get pretty boring and you have to think of strategies to help you to cope.
I find it helps to often do the same circuit around the village as I know the distances involved and exactly how far I have to go. Starting out for an unknown walk can be somehow more demanding.
Do tell me what your superstitions are and how they affect your life.
Yesterday I talked about some of the problems existing in our village - problems that will be replicated throughout the country (and indeed further afield). So today I thought I would be a touch more positive.
So, on my daily walk I visited the community garden that is springing up at the back of the village hall and the new pavilion which is rising on the Memorial Playing Field.
Rome wasn't built in a day of course so it's going to be some time before they are both up to speed, but they are getting there.
The community garden is replacing the old skateboard park which fell into disrepair and had to be dismantled. There's plenty of work still to be done here.

Occasionally I list some of the weird dreams that I have (if I can remember them). A couple in the last few days.
I got into a friend's sports car which took off at an incredible speed and was all over the place. I looked over at him and he was sitting there looking scared and I realised it was a left-hand drive and I was the driver, having thought I was the passenger. Thankfully I realised quickly and started driving properly.
Somebody knocked at the door, and it turned out to be Bob Dylan who just marched into our house and demanded I put some music on and then complained at what I put on (Dan Fogelberg). I refused to put his music on and just insulted him. Then I woke up. Weird or what?
That's it for today folks.
