Others aren't so fortunate. I have been aware of the retirement age creeping up. I remember many years ago some kind of promise that we would all be working less hours and enjoying more leisure time. No idea what happened to that concept. I expect it went the same way as the millions of pounds we would have to donate to the NHS every week if we left the EU. Remember the campaign bus?
I was very interested in a Facebook post about the legality of raising the pension age and allegations that the Government has put some kind of gagging order on the Media. I copied this onto my own feed as it's something I feel strongly about. The whole matter just seems to have crept up on us. Here is that Facebook post.
"On the 5th and 6th of June, the UK Government may be made to give back the right to retire at 60 to all those women who worked and paid their National Insurance.
"Currently their pension payout is delayed until 66.
"We all know that the pension age for women born in the sixties has been raised. Did you know a campaign called ‘Back to 60 Movement’ has won the right to a Judicial Review and is taking the DWP to the High Court? On the 5th and 6th June they will attempt to get the 3.9 million women justice over non consultation in raising the pensionable age to 66 and above.
"Michael Mansfield QC will lead the case and the argument for the movement. However, there does not appear to be any media coverage regarding this significant event. That is why we’re raising the awareness now. Let's hope for justice rightly deserved.
"There appears to be a media blackout on this issue, which suggests that the government had put a block on the media reporting it. So let’s use social media for what it’s good at - share the hell out of this. Come on ladies - this is worth a great deal to you."
I think that men should also share this. I cannot see why this important issue has been ignored by the Media and I cannot see how the Government can ban coverage of the issue and what it is trying to achieve by so doing if it has. We have freedom of speech in this country so goodness knows what is going on Media-wise with this one. It's certainly a much more important issue than whether presenter Phillip Schofield has or hasn't had an affair with a younger television colleague. I just feel sorry for his wife and children who are being subjected to all his tawdry goings on.

I used to hate Luton Town Football Club. I have probably mentioned this before. The problem with writing so many blogs is I can never remember what I have already written about. Of course taking this on board, I suspect most of you won't be able to remember what you have read about either.
So apologies if I'm repeating myself as I almost certainly am.
I used to hate Luton Town because back in 1959 they beat Norwich City in the semi finals of the FA Cup and prevented us from becoming the first team from the third tier of football to get to the final. Stick with me, this isn't just about football.
That was really the point that I became a life long Norwich supporter. As a result of that defeat I put a curse on Luton Town and boy did that work. They lost the final to Nottingham Forest and started to slide down the leagues to such an extent that they were docked so many points for financial irregularities that they dropped out of the football league and became known as a non league team.
At that point I felt sorry for them and so lifted the curse and of course Luton got back into the league and on Saturday completed their comeback by gaining promotion to the Premier League. Oh the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune.
I was supporting them against Coventry in the Championship playoff mainly because of a very brief link with one of their players and one of the saddest days in my entire life.
As I have mentioned before, we used to host Norwich City Academy players. Sometimes this was for a year or two but we also had a succession of what I called passers through. Youngsters who stayed a few weeks whilst their landlords/ ladies were on holiday or players here for trials or weekly training sessions.
It would have been August 2011 (I must check the actual date) that we had a couple of youngsters having trials.
I don't remember the other one but I do remember a young man with a flashing smile and polite nature. I asked him what position he played and he said "striker."
That young man was signed by Norwich City but didn't set the world alight at Carrow Road, playing just once for the first team before going out on loan to a number of clubs and eventually signing for Barnsley. He was a member of the Norwich City youth team that won the national cup.
That young man was Carlton Morris who is now one of the main men in the Luton side. He was their top scorer this season and in a few months time will be playing in the Premier League and I still remember that beaming smile. Today he is in his lateish 20s and obviously one of the club's leaders.
But there is another reason I remember Carlton and that's a very sad and personal one. We had to leave him and his fellow trialist at our house as we rushed to the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital where our first grandson had just been stillborn.
I have mentioned this before but now over a decade ago it still brings a tear to my eye when I think about those days.
As for Carlton and Luton. Well he's just fortunate that I lifted that curse.

A quick aside. I hope you are enjoying my holiday photos which I am posting as separate blogs and I hope you enjoy this Bank Holiday Monday. We are going off to North Norfolk for the day.
