Quite a bit of today was spent on Hethersett Herald - plenty of articles coming in although there's a distinctly historic feel to the next edition.
Over the past months we have highlighted the controversial decision to stop transport for Little Melton children going to Hethersett Academy from September. It, quite rightly, caused quite a stir.
Now it looks as if a solution is at hand. The Little Melton School Bus Campaign has used its Facebook page to let everyone know that one of the local bus services will divert via the village from September so that Little Melton students will be able to get to and from Hethersett. Parents will have to meet the cost but monthly tickets will be available at £36 and weekly tickets at £10 with a return trip £2.40 and a single journey £1.50.
Tonight brought another Hethersett Parish Council meeting using the Zoom social media platform. It's rather strange seeing pen pictures of the councillors in your own lounge. Reports on the meeting will appear in the next Hethersett Herald.
Finally today I am indebted to my friend John Head for photographs of Firs Road when it looked more like a building site. The shots were taken 33 years ago when the road was being completed. The shots include Woodside School which is due to close this year and move to a new building on the North Hethersett development and Woodcote Sheltered Housing Complex.
John moved into one of the new builds: "I came from King's Lynn having sold my four bed detached house with substantial plot of land for £77.5k . Had to increase my mortgage by £6k for this one in Firs Road. That hurt," he said.
The advertisement for John's house read: "A small select development of four detached executive houses by M. J. Robinson Esq at Firs Road, Hethersett. Freehold price £83,950 or £84,950 with double garage.
