It was presented by Lorraine Kelly on the 25th anniversary of the mass shooting that killed 16 primary school children and a teacher. The poignancy for me comes from the fact that the youngsters were mainly five years old. Today they would have been 30. They would have careers, probably be married with children of their own.
The documentary showed the caring side of reporting. You will know that I have distinct views of how journalists should conduct themselves. One of my pet hates is when they fire questions from a distance. You know what I'm talking about: "Are you going to resign Prime Minister?" Always stupid questions that very rarely produce an answer.
Thankfully Lorraine Kelly is a responsible reporter who was moved to tears 25 years ago as she reported on the events. she became an integral part of the story, becoming friends with those bereaved and being asked to read a poem at the memorial service. Her humanity shone through in the documentary.

I spoke yesterday about my DNA results that suggest that I am up to 10% Scottish. My surname rather suggests Scottish ancestry if you just take off the final d and replace it with a t - Stewart.
This has given me an affinity with the land north of the border. On a visit to Scotland a few years ago we were staying close to Dunblane and decided to visit. There was something about the town that made me instantly feel at home - almost a pull that I couldn't explain. I find this happens occasionally when I visit a new place. Within a few minutes of arriving somewhere I have made a decision on whether I like it or not.
The people of Dunblane were very welcoming and friendly and I loved our visit there - almost feeling that I knew the place much more than through the knowledge that could be gained on a short one day visit. I made a mental note to return at some point. So I wonder whether inadvertently some of my Scottish ancestors originated from the town.
Incidentally Dunblane is the home of Jamie and Andy Murray - the tennis players, although this wasn't mentioned in the documentary - obviously deliberately. Andy Murray was a pupil at the school on the day of the shooting and he rarely if ever talks about it.
That was the only disappointing part of the documentary which largely focussed on the parents of children who were murdered and ignored the thoughts and views of those children at the school at the time. It would have been good to have known what memories (if any) they had and how it has affected their lives.

Did one of my longer walks yesterday - about eight miles to Wymondham and back. Only took three photographs but they are re-produced here.

I am beginning to get into this podcast lark. My podcasts are now available on about six different platforms including Anchor FM and Spotify.
The latest episode gives some of the history of Hethersett War Memorial and those commemorated there. I gave my voice a rest and you can hear Anne's much more mellifluous tones on this one. I will be building up my library of Hethersett History podcasts over the next few weeks.
