As for the briefings - well I think I will give them the swerve altogether. Yesterday we had to suffer Boris bumbling his way through questions without giving any answers. I'm happy to listen to the medical/scientific messages/advice but not the political ones.

Yesterday I mentioned the Norwich-based Elvis Presley musical from many years ago. I wrongly called it "The Boy Born to Rock". Have now found out that was the opening song from the show and the musical was entitled "Forever Elvis."
I have been able to confirm that Jim White played one of the three Elvis' featured in the show and he is still doing shows around the country.

Now a confession. A friend reminded me that I have a new girlfriend. Her name is Libby. My friends like her very much. But before you get on the mobile to inform the wife, I had better explain. Libby is a library app. It allows you to download books from your local library for up to three weeks at a time.
But Libby is multi faceted because she also delivers audio books and there are hundreds of them on the Norfolk libraries site. All you need is to have a library card (i.e be a member of a library service) and sign up for e-books and audio books. It's all absolutely free.
As my friends Gill and Richard point out: "Audio books provide a good rest for our eyes and from our screens."

I have probably mentioned before that I am a trustee of the Norfolk Family History Society and one of my responsibilities is to look after the society's Facebook page. This isn't an onerous task at all as the page works on its own. All I have to do is accept people when they apply to join the page and check that posts are genuinely about family history/genealogy matters.
There's over 3,000 members and we are still having over10 people a week apply to join. I know a lot of people have helped others and a number of so called "brick walls" have been broken down.
If you are interested in family history and would like to join the group you can access it by clicking the link at the bottom of this blog.
A number of people wanting to share their family history have taken to writing blogs. So I thought that I would give it a go by featuring my ancestors with the names - Steward, Payne, Dew and Sandall.
My idea is to occasionally feature an ancestor I have researched with details and, where possible, photographs. If you are interested the blog will appear (and it will be an occasional thing) at: https://stewardfamilystories.blogspot.com
I have started with a fascinating man - Frederick Duncan Dew. Dew was my grandmother's married name and my mother's maiden name.
Frederick Duncan was only my first cousin three times removed but he is an interesting character. He rose from humble beginnings and, after being a servant in various places in Norfolk and London, became a Freeman of London, a Freemason, a publican and a very rich man. I still haven't found out how he made the transition (I'm still working on that one).
