And there were two examples of this in yesterday's post. Marketing material trying to sell things in the most floral language imaginable.
Apparently McCarthy Stone would absolutely love to have us sell up and move into one of their new bungalows at Eaton which they make sound idyllic. No noisy neighbours here, no arguments with fellow residents, absolutely no moaning or complaining because (as they tell us).
"A good gossip over a glass of wine. Fresh coffee in the morning and a crossword on the balcony. A favourite sunny spot in the garden. An afternoon's shopping for nothing in particular. Strictly nights in with friends. Time well spent is a life well lived."
How can we resist? After all who could not love an afternoon's shopping in Eaton - so much to see and so much to buy!
They are so keen to get us onboard to live in this paradise that they sent us two leaflets one of which was very glossy.
The second example was pushing the Norfolk Artist Online Gallery. It was trying to sell prints - prints that we actually like but the leaflet tell us that this is the "art of optimism." I wonder what the art of pessimism is?
These prints will "bring joy into your life." But this isn't just art (this is M and S art - sorry got carried away there). This is "contemporary yet timeless life-affirming artworks that radiate limitless optimism, joy and freedom."
So all we have to do to rid ourselves of any depressive thoughts or unhappiness about still being locked up is buy one of these prints which are "life affirming and will bring us freedom." I must let Boris Johnson know about this. We could all buy one of these and there would be no need for the vaccine.

I am now about four Steward Strolls away from completing 1,000 miles of walking since I started recording my perambulations on March 8th. Today I made another lap of the village and it was good to have a chat with Don and Bridget Williamson. They were collecting litter and showing once again what first class citizens they are.

Of course I was sorry to hear that golfer Tiger Woods has been involved in what could be a career ending car crash but to eulogise about him and call him an icon is totally wrong.
The same went for Diago Maradonna who was something of a shady character.
Woods is scarcely a role model despite sports commentators trying to tell us that he was the reason many professional golfers took up the sport as if without Woods there wouldn't be any professionals and nobody would be playing gold. I think Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player might have something to say about that.
I think when we are putting less than wholesome sportsmen and women on a pedestal we should be careful.

I have been meaning to mention an interesting film I watched last weekend but have been putting it on hold for a few days - not wanting the blogs to be too long. But I will reveal what it was and why I was particularly interested in it in tomorrow's blog.
