A number of eagle-eyed readers informed me that it was an advert featuring the legendary PG Tips Chimps, and Don Williamson, as reliable as ever, sent me the You Tube link for the advert.

It's the one with two chimps moving furniture. A piano slips and trundles down the stairs. The advert ends with one chimp saying "Dad do you know the piano's on my foot" to which the Dad chimp classically replies "You hum it son and I'll play it."
It was a good reminder of the days when adverts were genuinely interesting and little programmes of their own. So original that you looked forward to seeing them. Who remembers the Oxo family with Linda Bellingham which was like a Soap opera in its own right. Then there was the couple in the sugar advert (I'm sure it wasn't advertising sugar) and their ongoing romance. Often you remember the adverts but not what they were advertising which would probably come as a disappointment to the product owners.
My favourite was the lager advert featuring the hopeless goalkeeper who was thrown a can of drink in the dressing room and dropped it. Perhaps someone can remind me just what product that was advertising.
Sadly the days of the well put together and fun advert seem to have evaporated. Now we get insulting and aggressive ones. Horrible horrible ads that insult people who have, through no fault of their own, lost their hair with a man with a ridiculously deep bass voice and accusing delivery shouting "men look after your hair" as though it's our fault when it falls out! I am referring to the Numan advert which intones us to "Do Something About Hair Loss" and has the phrase "Despair Despair Despair Don't Give Up On Your Hair." There's also a dreadful one about erectile dysfunction which gives a long list of words used for a penis and is just plain insulting.
Then there's those awful Just Eat ads with a woman who keeps changing costumes and delivered with a staccato delivery, again in a very aggressive way.

Managed to get into Norwich today for a shortish walk, cut short by the persistent rain. Tried to take a few more unusual angle photographs. To see the full lot please go to
