The photos below are just a few of the area around the parish pit. This place remains a mystery to me. It's quite a way outside the main village and I have been asked in the past about its history, but never really found anything out about it. Can you help to fill this gap in my knowledge of the village? Would love to hear from you if you can.
Yesterday's Steward Stroll was undertaken with friend Mike Stark who asked me if I knew the way to the parish pit (well I suppose it's a change from "Do you know the way to San Jose?"). As usual I pretended I did but it's always been a mystery to me. Occasionally I have come across the pit by accident but I'm still not sure exactly where it is.
We did find it after a bit of searching and managed to go down to the bottom and also clamber up a very steep gradient to claw our way to the top. Walked on to Little Melton and then back into the village to grab a takeaway coffee from Cafe Kin (now becoming a regular thing).

Really pleased that the memorial tree planting story appeared in yesterday's Eastern Daily Press and Norwich Evening News. You can see the cutting with this blog.
I believe my wartime Hethersett story is scheduled for the EDP weekend section today. If it is in I will publish an image in tomorrow's blog.
