Stupidly I left my camera at home so Mrs S was in charge of the images with her mobile phone. I did take some but I'm afraid I don't find mobiles conducive to photography. I'm probably too old school when it comes to photography and so will stick with my Sony camera. Mind you thanks to mobiles with cameras we have millions more photographs than we would have had and that has to be a good thing as far as records of our time goes.
I mentioned a few days ago that when walking a song or songs are always going through my head. Today it was "Girlie" by The Peddlers. No idea where that one came from. So who has heard of The Peddlers? They were a jazz based trio from the 1960s and 70s. I really didn't like them until I saw them live in Norwich many many years ago.
Roy Phillips was the leader and keyboard player and had a slightly strange nasal singing voice. Then I heard the two singles "Girlie" and "Birth" and I changed my opinion. Then came the full LP "Suite London" which was recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra - a fusion of jazz and classical music.
Getting back to Girlie - just read the following lyrics and tell me this isn't true poetry.
You're a hello and a welcome you have the answer to a prayer
You're a passage of Beethoven, like a precious stone you're rare.
You're that little touch of sadness but you're overwhelming joy
You're that never ending mystery in the mind of every boy
You're the most expensive perfume with the scent of morning air
You're the wonder of God's creation and I'd like the world to share
My Girlie
You're the beauty of a poem by Walter de la Mare
You're the hope behind a promise, You're the dream beyond a prayer
When the mind is so tormented You're a soothing healing hand
You're the gift of wide awakening in this tired and troubled land.
And so it goes on.
This was then replaced by "When The World Was Woken" by Barclay James Harvest - equally obscure.
The Steward stroll was just over three miles. Earlier I had done a Pete Pedal of about three miles and a quick run of half a mile!!! Now it's time to slump down in a chair without feeling guilty.
