I usually read fairly serious books but occasionally I feel like a bit of froth, something light and so I turned to Mrs Harris Goes to Paris by Paul Gallico.
I'm not sure I have read any of his books but I must have tried The Snow Goose at some time. I've certainly listened to the concept album by that name by a rock band called Camel. Apparently the author didn't really like the idea of a rock band using his book as a theme so, in order to prevent a law suit, Camel used the words " music inspired by the Snow Goose." I really don't know why these authors are so precious about their work. If a band such as The Killers were inspired by my autobiography and wanted to write music about it I would be delighted. Maybe I should write some about it myself.
Whilst on a recent holiday we went to see the piffly film Mrs Harris Goes To Paris. It was entertaining froth. So I thought I would read the novel which is really little more than a novella and it made for nice easy reading for a change. As usual the film added side stories that weren't in the book but for once they didn't detract from the overall story. Films often add stuff. Some films miss stuff out. I'm thinking of Jaws where the original film left out a whole sub plot that appeared in the book.
I enjoyed it enough to start on Mrs Harris Goes to New York. But that's literally another story.

I used to make a point of watching the news. Now I'm starting to make a point of avoiding it. The news is so depressing. Watching it just makes you feel unhappy.

Yesterday I took some photographs down at our new pavilion on the Memorial Playing Field. To me it was the end of a chapter and the beginning of another. Thankfully bridges are now being built after some petty squabbling that I have mentioned before. As the day progressed I began to think what an achievement this building is and how people should take pride in it.
Not everyone is a supporter of the new build but as they say "you can please some of the people some of the time but not all of the people all of the time." As our village grows we will forever be in need of more facilities and this is a very good start.
The Friends of Hethersett Library will be holding a children's Christmas party in December and we will certainly be looking into the possibility of hiring the ne community hall.
I was glad to get out and pop along to a local cafe for a coffee and a sit in the sun which was just too hot for me.
It got me out of the house where my brain had become fuddled. I had been catching up on my e magazine. I have learned from experience to save my work regularly which on this occasion didn't help at all as a file got corrupted.
Thankfully I had also saved it as a pdf file and that helped to reconstitute files but at quite a time cost. Sometimes technology can serve you well and sometimes technology can go to hell for all that it does ( that's a paraphrase of a Harry Chapin song).
Today it's back to the tennis court, although I fear it might be a touch too hot for comfort.

You should find a separate blog today with photographs. Hope you enjoy a few of them. I still have a few legs of the recent holiday to cover and will be doing that shortly.
