This is one of my favourite evenings of the year and it seems to be more popular than ever. On Saturday there were 14 teams filling the village hall. We were table 13 which didn't bode well but we managed to win the quiz to retain our trophy. Our team scored 57 out of a possible 70.
But it is the evening and not our team that is a big success with a considerable amount (not known at present) being raised for the church and also a charity in India.
The evening features biscuits and cheese and there was plenty of both. This is one of those excellent small events that do so much to help local communities.

We had a lovely family day on Sunday to mark our granddaughter Poppy's eighth birthday which was yesterday. We started off with bowling (10-pin that is) and then had a carvery late afternoon lunch. It's incredible to think how it's been eight years since Poppy came into our lives and enriched them so much.

How do people know so much about me? that's a question I have been asking myself lately and then I realise that it's because I write this blog.
Readers often come up and start chatting about things I have written and it takes me a while to realise how they know so much about me and my life.
It does give me a kick talking to people who have read my twitterings though.

Let's talk road problems. Getting out onto the main road from our home is now a nightmare. There is a pub on our village by the name of the Kings Head. It is hundreds of years old but I want to talk about it in relation to the road system.
I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong here but I'm sure that back in the 1960s and 1970s the road going towards Norwich went past this hostelry. Then they bypassed it with what is now the B1172. They then bypassed this road with what is now the main A11 which meant that drivers going from London to Norwich or the East coast never passed anywhere near the Kings Head. I'm sure I've got that all wrong but the fact is that trying to get onto the B1172 from our local road is getting more and more difficult as traffic is diverted off the A11 due to major resurfacing work that just goes on and on and on
The same problem exists in Wymondham where turning right onto the B1172 from a side road we use frequently is becoming difficult to say the least.
There is a sign at one end of the B1172 which says something like "no through road local traffic only." But of course it is very much a through road.

Finally today a comment that will make me very unpopular - it surrounds the popularity and obsession that people have with television drama. I did watch the final episode of Happy Valley without any great enthusiasm whereas some people seem to be completely wrapped up in this programme. The same happened with Call of Duty. There are whole podcasts devoted to these dramas where every scene and every action is dissected on minute detail.
Sadly these dramas always seem to include a huge amount of violence.
