Yesterday was a tough day. I went from Cafe Kin in the village for coffee to the Queen's Head for lunch and then the Methodist Church for tea and cake. But I don't want you to think it was all food and drink (just 90% of it).
I took lots of photographs for the magazine and put lots of chairs and tables out for various events. But the highlight of the weekend had to be the official opening of something in the King's Head. I called it "something" to add to the exciting build-up.
Yes it was the launch and opening of the new wood burner. I was invited along (showing just what an important person I am) to take some photos. The invite came from Don Williamson who for some unknown reason was cutting the ribbon. Actually it's because he's Scottish along with the Licensee.
We were enjoying a mince pie and mulled wine when Don and his friends up and left. Actually they were off to work on the new community garden at the back of the village hall and not fed up with our company. This is an excellent project (and that remark is serious and not flippant like some of the others). Before going, Don recited a poem he had written which is just too dreadful to repeat here. Maybe I'll print it in the next magazine.

I was very sorry to hear that Ruth Madoc has died.
For many Ruth was the quintissential Welsh Girl thanks to her role as Gladys Pugh in the comedy Hi De Hi. But Ruth was English and not only English but was born in the Norfolk and Norwich Hospital. In fact she lived in Norfolk and Suffolk before moving to Wales at the age of four. So we claim Ruth as a "good ole Norfolk Mawther" even if her accent was all wrong.
I wish before a football match the Media would stop asking random people for their score prediction as if this will influence the result. We've had it all day. Two very earnest young men on Anglia TV declared that the game would end 2-2 after extra-time with England winning on penalties. I don't know why we bother to play the game.
Of course the result was 2-1 to France but the two lads almost got it right. Harry Kane missed a penalty that would have made it 2-2.

Norwich got back to playing again. It took them just one minute to take the lead at Swansea and that was the only goal of the game. We have a home match next weekend. I hope it warms up. There's nothing much enjoyable about sitting watching a football match when the temperature is on or below zero.
