But before they do, I enjoyed that special jubilee trifle that won the competition on television. It tasted good, but not quite as good as it looked as you will see from my photographs.
I don't think it's the kind of thing you will eat every week though.
Overall it's been a pretty good weekend although the weather could have behaved itself a bit better. Sadly the Hethersett picnic in the park was postponed due to impending rain. The weather wasn't as bad as it could have been but it was still pretty miserable and the decision to postpone was probably the correct one. Most other places called theirs off as well.

Watched the end of the first cricket test between England and New Zealand and hey we actually won. We won because we have Joe Root - probably the best batsman in the world. Yes I used the word batsman because that's what he is. Political correctness has gone potty here as they are now referred to as batters. Root is a man so he's a batsman. If he was a woman he would be referred to as a batswoman.
Mr Root not only scored a century as England won but he passed 10,000 test runs which makes him only the second Englishman to achieve this after Sir Alistair Cooke. It also makes him 14th on the all time list which is headed by India's Sachin Tendulker. Root will be climbing much higher on the chart over the next few years.
While we are on the subject of cricket, Hethersett and Tas Valley made it six wins out of six in Division One of the Norfolk Alliance at the weekend. We now sit proudly at the top of the division and this coming Saturday have a vital game against old adversaries Ashmanhaugh and Barton Wanderers at their place.

Keep meeting people who read my blogs which certainly gladdens my heart. People seem to enjoy what I write (well I suppose it takes all sorts as they say).
Today we are off to Cambridge and I will feature some photos and bits and pieces on this in tomorrow's blog.
