What on earth are you talking about I hear you say?
Well you see it everyday on television. Politicians and people being asked direct questions and avoiding giving direct answers and waffling around a subject. Over the years both in professional and voluntary capacity, I have been frustrated by groups and organisations looking inwards rather than outwards and I believe that, along with rules and regulations, has held our society back. It was certainly the case with Lockdown where at times the real message was obscured by internal matters and posturing.
This is quite a difficult blog to write as it's a difficult subject to express properly and as I write this I don't think that I am expressing exactly how I feel or putting down in simple language exactly what I mean.
So let's take a fictional group as an example. This group is responsible for getting food parcels out to the needy at Christmas (I repeat that this is purely a made up group and is not meant to represent any organisation that exists).
The parcels are delayed because nobody can decide how the food is going to be distributed due to health and safety matters and lack of insurance. Is it better to take a van round or a car or a motorbike and then does it conform with various rules and policies?
Ultimately the people who will suffer whilst these discussions go on are the very people this group was set up to help. I think you get the gist. Many groups and organisations are brilliantly organised and run. Unfortunately some aren't.
I'm sure this is a subject I will return to a few times in the future but I'm going to park it for now.
Which takes me seamlessly to the matter of suits.
Meghan Markle appeared in the American series Suits and I have watched much of her series with Harry on Netflix. I have to say the whole thing has been rather boring. To me these are two people with huge psychological problems who need counselling rather than Prime Time television coverage. They hate the Media but are very quick to use it for their own ends.
And I'm not sure what they are trying to do or say is very palatable anyway. What do you all think?
I think their hope was that by watching we would come to some kind of understanding about what they are experiencing and going through but it has had the opposite effect for me. Rather than enhancing their standing, it has lowered it a few more notches. I really have lost patience with the whole thing.
In the episode I watched yesterday Harry was complaining about how much good Meghan could have done had she been treated properly. I agree that Meghan could have done a huge amount of good but it was her decision to walk away from everything and not the decision of others. Harry could have been a huge force for good in our country. Unfortunately he chose a destructive path that has set much of the UK population against him.
And on the subject of suits. Is it just me but are people who wear suits now out of touch. I refer of course to politicians. I turn on the television every morning and there we have another be-suited politician being interviewed and generally trotting out carefully prepared drivel.
Twenty years ago looking good in a suit may have been the order of the day. Now it just makes me feel suspicious - "oh no not another grey politician in a suit."
When I see someone dressed smartly in a suit nowadays I immediately become suspicious as to their motives. Or is that just me?
