We came back from our travels to more cold and wet weather. Last night our lounge was 15 degrees. We refused to put the heat on which is a strange psychological point. If it was January we would have put the heat on but this is almost May for goodness sake.
I remember at Easter during lockdown it was so warm we sat in the garden in t shirts and shorts. Now we are wrapping ourselves in blankets and going to bed to keep warm.
There we are. I have been talking about the weather - something I said I wouldn't do.
Back to the buses. There's some good news and some bad. Good news is that in a couple of weeks we will have another bus covering the village. The First Bus Pink line number 11 will be serving the village and connecting us with the hospital and Norwich and as far as Wrocham and Hoveton.
The bad news is the existing service seems to be going to pot. The other threequarters went out to catch a bus on Thursday for a hospital appointment.
Put simply once again it didn't come. Now the other threequarters is not one to take things lying down. So she has repeatedly complained in emails and received the usual expected replies. Have you noticed how when a particular service is poor the organisers always have excuses and reasons to justify what they are doing? They rarely try to address the actual problems.
And so to the next travelogue blog.
Being on holiday gives you the chance to do some of the things you don't usually get round to such as sleeping and contemplating the naval.
As you all know I struggle in the heat but here in Spain at the moment it's a pleasant 23 degrees which comes as a nice surprise after the cold and wet we left behind in England.
Now what I'm going to say might sound ridiculous but rather than sit in the sun and get sweaty, I would rather play tennis in the sun which makes me even sweatier but then I can justify having my third shower of the day.
I used to rate the heat of the day according to how many showers I took. Yesterday was a three shower day although one of them was strictly unnecessary as I just fancied something hot and wet.
My record is five showers a day on a Nile cruise in Egypt when the temperature during the day was in the forties. One shower on getting up, one after returning from a morning visit, one after a hot lunch, one before an evening meal and one before bed.
Sometimes with the cold of our UK climate I feel that one shower every couple of days is adequate.
Anyway I booked a tennis court and myself and my other threequarters made a complete team whilst eldest son and his other half faced us over the net. Wimbledon it certainly wasn't but I was surprised at how enjoyable it was. We got all the way to 9-9 before deciding we needed a tie break or risk being late for our booked dinner.
We eventually went down 7-5 in the tie break but didn't think we did badly as it was a combined age of 141 against a combined age of 70. Mind you we felt it afterwards. Anyone got a Zimmerframe?
I'm going to invent the Zimmerframe Games. Had a certain ring to it don't you think?
Zimmerframe basketball should be a hoot and I can only imagine the pile ups as England and Scotland contest the final of the Zimmerframe Rugby.
The music for the games will be obvious. It will be by Bob Zimmerframe.
I fear I probably need to explain that for some people not into folk/rock music. Robert Zimmerman is the real name of Bob Dylan. Ok ok I know that's pushing the bounds of humour a bit too far but hey ho this is my blog.
