I was in Wymondham and fancy I heard it and saw it in the distance, but I may have been wrong.
The historic plane was doing its bit to thank members of the NHS for all their work during the pandemic. One man who did capture the Spitfire was Hethersett's John Mountain who took the photograph above from Old Buckenham Airfield. Do let me know if you saw it over Hethersett.
I would like to thank Hethersett-born Stephen Frosdick for permission to reproduce a number of historic Hethersett photographs from his collection which I know will be of interest to many.
I will include a number of these in coming editions of Hethersett Herald and on this blog. We start off with a view of Mill Road which was taken at the turn of the last century around 1900. It's interesting to see how narrow the road looked in those days and, of course, there were very few houses on Mill Road which looked just like part of the countryside.
