I was looking through various Hethersett Facebook pages when I came across a post from Kathryn Rossiter Pratt.
Kathryn said: "Hi everyone I’m not from the area but recently I bought a bureau from a charity shop in Newport Gwent. When I removed the drawers I found these drawings. Was just wondering if they rang a bell with anyone."
You can see the drawings with this blog. The wording is "Drawn by Donald 1940. The panels were for blackout on window at Hethersett."
It's intriguing how the bureau came to be in Wales but even more intriguing is the questions who was Donald and where were the panels destined for? One suggestion has been for a village school but equally they could have been for a private house during the Second World War.
I would love to hear from anyone who has any ideas on this small piece of Hethersett history.

I got a very good reaction to the photos I posted after seeing the Kingfisher on the River Tiffey at Wymondham.
I was pleased with the pictures but they could still be rather sharper. The Kingfisher is a good subject as he stays quite still for a reasonable amount of time. I need to revisit the area with a tripod to capture him in all his colourful glory. Apparently he does have a mate but we haven't seen her.

A couple of other miscellaneous photographs today sent to me courtesy of Cousin Belinda. One is of another bird, this time taken during a walk in Hethersett. The other is an intriguing vehicle which shot past us on Tuttles Lane at Wymondham. Belinda tracked the owner down to Waitrose and he agreed to pose for a photo.
