The London marathon is coming to the village - well a small proportion of it anyway. At 9 am two Hethersett residents - David Powles and Kate Gooding who would have been running the London Marathon - will be pounding the streets of Hethersett for the magical 26 plus miles.
They will start at 9 am from Hethersett Memorial Playing Field and finish some hours later at the same point. When the London Marathon was cancelled for all but the elite runners, David and Kate decided to go ahead with their marathon effort but to bring London to Hethersett (after all the two places are very similar!!!).
Attached to this blog is photos of David and Kate and also a map of their route. They would love to have people cheering them on and they have already raised considerable amounts for two charities. David is supporting the Priscilla Bacon Hospice Appeal and has already raised £3,330 well over his target of £2,000. Kate is supporting Cancer Research UK and has raised £1,220 of her £1,000 target.
David and Kate should have finished their marathon effort well ahead of the latest village screen showing at 3 pm in the village hall. I am reliably informed that "The Personal History of David Copperfield" will go ahead with suitable Covid restrictions of course.

Yesterday I paid another visit to Janey's café in Mill Road. I'm a sucker for liver and bacon at any time but all I could say about the meal I had was "cor blimey guv." Let's just say it was wholesome and mega extensive not to mention ace value.
