Looking back over the past eight or nine weeks I hope I have been able to bring just a touch of sunshine with some of my photographs and subjects.
I am so grateful for all the "likes" and comments I have received which have now reached four figures.
I seem to have covered plenty of random subjects and today will be no different.
A couple of weeks ago I featured a walk to Little Melton Church and came across two interesting graves, including one for Clarissa Javanaud who was described as an astro physicist and I was hoping that somebody would respond to my request for information. Chris Doggett, who I have known for many years, came forward with some reminiscences which I printed a number of days ago.
I am terrible for losing e-mails etc and last night I found a whole plethora of Messenger messages that I thought I had lost. One was from Heather Parker who had a few memories about Clarissa which I reproduce here:
"I was pleased to see your interest in my friend Clarissa Javanaud. She was a very clever lady who went to Oxford University and she was quite a character. Her mother was English and her father was French, hence her surname. She lived in Little Melton for many years and worked at the Institute of Food Research and for the Open University. Sadly she died of cancer."
Another message was from Jan Alexander asking me if I remembered a couple who lived in the village in the 1950s. I have lived in Hethersett only since August 1979. Somebody reading this may remember or know of Edie and Horace Garner though. This is Jan's message:
"I am wondering if you knew my aunt and uncle - Edie and Horace Garner who lived in Back Lane in the 1950s. Edie was my father's sister and, when she died in the 1960s I think, my parents didn't keep in touch with Horace. I often wondered what happened to him and I would love to hear any stories about Edie and Horace. My parents passed on years ago."
If you do know anything about the Garners please leave a message on Facebook or e-mail me at [email protected].
Tomorrow I am going to feature a Norwich cemetery with a fascinating history and where a number of my relatives are buried - at least two of whom were superintendents of the graveyard.
