I usually can't get on with boots. I have a pair that cause blisters if I try to walk half a mile. Then I have another pair that were so uncomfortable that my toenail turned black and eventually fell off. Sorry if you're having breakfast as you read this.
But not my Jack Walker boots. I remember having them during lockdown when I did a lot of walking. They saw me through my 1500 mile charity wander and this year I've completed at least 1000 miles. By quick addition I reckon I've walked over 4000 miles in them and they're still as good as new despite going through puddles and mud.
So remember the name Jack Walker which just happens to be the name of the first landlord of the Rovers Return on Coronation Street which just over a week ago celebrated it's 63rd birthday. Will it last forever? Who knows. I wouldn't want to be the person to break the news that it's finishing.

They used to call them game old birds and I'm not referring to turkeys. Now it's a derogatory term but I'm referring to feisty ladies of a certain age.
I met one on the bus from Wymondham yesterday. She was a touch confused about which bus to get for Hethersett. It was nothing to do with her age because all the services have changed as I've mentioned before. The 15 now skirts the village whereas previously it went through it while the number 14 which previously didn't come to the village now does. Are you still with me?
Myself and another gentleman were able to tell her which bus to get and shortly it came along. She got off at the same stop as me on the main road and so I walked with her until reaching my turning.
She told me that three months previous she had a new hip after falling over her shopping trolley. She also told me where she lived which just happened to be on the route of the 14 but she didn't want to get that as she "needed to walk in" the new hip. This lady was 90. She wished me a happy Christmas which was nice.
I did quite a bit of shopping in Wymondham, thus negating the need for the usual blind panic in a few days, although I will still have a trip into Norwich later in the week.
Today it's the last forget me not cafe before Christmas and Angela Bishop will be talking about Christmas traditions and it's bound to be highly entertaining if you are anywhere near the Methodist Church at 10 am. If you live in the Scunthorpe area please ignore this last paragraph.
