Here I would like to promote a number of links that will give you more information on Hethersett and some of my activities and the web sites that I either own or manage (usually both):
Hethersett Village Web Site
This is the web site that I put together for the village of Hethersett. It contains a history of the village, contact details for the various groups and organisations and up to date news items. This site is updated daily with new news and features - many of which also appear in the local Media.
Hethersett Athletic Football Club
This is the official site of Hethersett Athletic Football Club with up to date news, results, fixtures and information about the club. This is another of the web sites that I own and edit.
Hethersett Hawks Cycle Speedway Club
Hawks is one of the top clubs in the country and regularly hosts top cycle speedway events including national events on its track at Hethersett Memorial Playing Field. I edit the web site for the Hawks.
Steward Family of Hethersett
This is my family site where you will find details of my wife Anne and my two sons - Matt and Chris. It's a rather rambling site with lots of music reviews and family history. I am currently migrating personal material from that site onto this one. But if you feel the need to read some more of my awful poetry and writing this is the place to go!
Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association
Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association began life in February 2011 as an attempt to bring together clubs and people interested in sport, fitness, health, well being and the environment. Over the past two years it has gone from strength to strength, supporting success in the Norfolk Village Games, setting up new sports clubs and obtaining a grant of over £3,800 from South Norfolk Council. This site includes agendas, minutes and news.
Hethersett Social Running Group
Hethersett Social Running Group came out of the formation of Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association and in 2012 was named Run England's Eastern Region Group of the Year. The group provides coached running sessions for all ages and abilities and the web site gives full details.
Hethersett - A Village at War
This web site was set-up to commemorate 100 years since the start of the First World War. Initially it was designed to cover the years of that war and was supported by Hethersett Parish Council. I then decided to extend it to cover the Second World War and the years between 1910 and 1950. It includes a number of exclusive documents and letters, never before published. It also gives biographies of all those from the village who gave their lives in the service of their country.
Non Hethersett Sites
Freda Laycock Memorial Site
Freda Laycock in the mother of a friend. She served as a nursing sister in Sierra Leone and also was one of the first medical staff to liberate a German concentration camp at Sanbostel. I have set-up the site in a scrapbook style to cover the various phases of Freda's life and to act as a memorial to her work.
Alan Mann's Site
Friend and local author Alan Mann writes books on rock n roll. His subjects in the past have included Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and his latest book is a biography of Tony Sheridan which I had the pleasure of editing. Sheridan was the vocalist on the Beatles' early single My Bonnie which caused quite a stir in their home town of Liverpool. Sheridan came from Norwich and was a life-long friend of Alan's
Wymondham Coffee Shop
Wymondham Coffee Shop is in the main street of this Norfolk market town. The owner is my daughter-in-law's mother and so I edit this web site for her.
