So many people
And they all go hand in hand
So sang Blur. And that summed up my Sunday. It was wall to wall people.
Firstly we popped to Wymondham for their Wynterfest event. We had to go early, well before it was dark as we had somewhere else to go after dark.
We started at the excellent heritage museum where we had coffee and cake and a swift run round the displays as we were stuffed for time. We will be returning to have a proper look in the future.
There were so many people along the main street that it was difficult to view the displays etc. For once I tried to take photographs to illustrate the large numbers there rather than pictures without people in them.
Came home as the family were coming round for a roast dinner and we had just wolfed that down when it was time to walk round to see the switch on of the Hethersett lights in Park Green.
I have covered this event for my e-magazine for a number of years and this was the biggest yet with World Number One wheelchair tennis player Alfie Hewett pushing the button to activate the lights. There were so many there that it was difficult to see the lights. But that didn't matter as I will be returning over the next couple of evenings to try to get some decent shots. I did manage to get a photo of Alfie with Tristan, Alan and Chris who are responsible for putting all the lights up. Alan told me that this year there are over 100,000 lights in play which is just mind numbing. All this in memory of little Finnbar Cork who died from a brain tumour.
It's one of those things that makes you proud to live in our village. I had a quick chat with Tristan on Saturday morning and said in my opinion it was one of, if not the top, Hethersett event of the year and I genuinely believe that.
I took a few photos of both events, although photography in crowds is tough.

I watched Dr Who on Saturday night with great interest. It was as weird as ever but at least the plot was understandable to a certain extent and I did like the lovable Meep. I won't go any further in case anyone has recorded it to watch later but it had just the right amount of drama and comedy with a touch of menace thrown in. I look forward to the next two specials.
I wouldn't necessarily call myself a fan of Dr Who and some of the plots over the years have been impenetrable and dense and too clever for their own good. But at least the latest venture has avoided this.

One of my favourite areas of Norwich is Upper St Giles. It has a number of independent coffee shops and bistros and is away from the main drag of the city. It has a feel all of its own and at Christmas it feels like going back about 30 years. We ate at one of the bistros and it really did have a lovely feel to it.
