For this blog I could paraphrase that to: "Death threats I've had a few." Well two actually in very different situations.
The first came after I had reviewed a concert by The Dooleys at Norwich Theatre Royal for the Evening News Newspaper.
I thought the concert was limp and dull with the band simply going through the motions. The problem with reviewing artists is that you are on to a hiding to nothing as the venue is crammed full of fans for whom the artists can do no wrong whilst the reviewer is there to take a more objective view.
I once criticised a concert by David Bowie at Norwich Theatre Royal not because I dislike Bowie ( he would be in my top five artists of all time) but because I thought his performance on that evening was lack lustre and his voice didn't hold up well. I did the same with Don McLean and Glen Campbell both of whom I felt were going through the motions whilst I praised Tom Paxton because he seemed genuinely to be happy to be on stage.
Anyway a few days after my review of the Dooleys appeared, I gotcha a call from the manager of the Theatre Royal, the legendary Dick Condon who once asked us to refer to him in the Media as Richard Condon after his name had been inadvertently printed as Dick Condom.
Dick told me that following my review somebody had phoned the theatre and graphically told him what they would do to me if they ever caught me. He found it funny, I found it a trifle alarming.
The second threat led to my resigning as a trustee of Hethersett Memorial Playing Field. It revolved around a group of people who wanted to organise a music event on the park. The trustees met with the organisers and granted permission after a lengthy debate.
We were subsequently informed following police intelligence gathering that it was feared this would turn into an illegal all night rave. So the trustees met and reversed their decision to give permission. I've always put my head above the parapet and was the person to inform them both personally and through social media.
They didn't like the decision and both myself and my family received threats that I wasn't prepared to put up with.
Apart from that I've led a pretty quiet life (yeah right).

I'm going to tuck this next comment away at the bottom of today's blog as it's going to embarrass somebody.
On Thursday evening we had a meeting of our little writers' group at mine. We only have seven members and we all feel comfortable in each other's company.
Evenings are quite simple. We just chat about writing (and other things) and then read some of our work. Apparently I have been known to write a few things.
One of our number reads some beautiful episodes which are mainly taken from her own experiences growing up. They are beautifully written and really grab the attention of the listener.
So if you are reading this Carol as I know you will be - do get them published. It would be lovely to be able to read them all together in one place.
Very shortly I will be publishing some photographs of a quick visit to Wymondham yesterday in the sunshine. I felt the need to take out my camera and capture some of the brightness. These will be in a separate blog.
