It read: Caution Off Duty Grandparent - Only Disturb in Emergencies.
Now all I need is think of somewhere to put it. I also bought volume two of My Struggle by Karl Ove Knausgaard. I may have mentioned this series of books before. They are described as a novel but are hugely biographical in content and run to many thousands of pages of intimate detail that alienated the author from his family and relatives. I thought about writing a similar novel about my life and finished it in about 10 pages. Knausgaards run to thousands of pages. I have read extracts from many of the volumes but now have to set aside some time to read them properly.
Now for something of a mini travelogue with a few pictures to tickle the taste buds.
First stop was Holt for morning coffee and a scone. Then in the afternoon trips to the twin metropolises of Cromer and Sheringham. Cromer claims itself to be The Gem of the Norfolk Coast and Sheringham claims to be North Norfolk’s Premier Resort. Maybe both are correct.
So as Harry Hill would say “But which is the best.” That of course depends on personal choice. I always plump for Cromer but that’s because many many years ago I lived and worked there. But I do have a soft spot for Sheringham even if it was closing down by the time we got there.
* * *
You know all this political correctness stuff. Well it obviously hasn’t filtered down to the graphics department of the BBC.
On the programme that follows Breakfast TV (it’s so banal that I can’t even remember its name. I think it's something like Morning Live. I suppose the opposite programme would be Morning Dead) they were chuntering on about who will receive what money under the Government scheme to paper over the cost of living hike. They had graphics to represent various areas of the population. Pensioners were depicted by a very old person, almost bent double and leaning on a walking cane. I have to say I took exception to this. Not all pensioners are decrepit. Not all of us have to have walking sticks (yet). So this needs to be changed.
As I've already said I hope you enjoy the photographs of Holt, Cromer and Sheringham.
