But now the ridiculous cuts of this Government are threatening to go too far. They are so obsessed with saving money that they are now threatening the fabric of our society.
Health, education and law and order should be sacrosanct and the arts always seems to take the brunt. There is talk in Norfolk of over half the libraries being closed or having to stay open through volunteer labour.
We will fight any plans to shut Hethersett Library but I fear once this idiotic short sighted step has been decided it will be impossible to change minds. In Hethersett we lost our only bank many years ago, the Post Office is under threat and now the library, which is the hub of the village and is no longer just a place for books, could close.
It provides home for everything from baby bounce time to book clubs and knit and natter groups for the elderly. It provides a social meeting place as well. Over the next few years Hethersett is expecting over 1,000 new houses. What we need are more services and not an erosion of existing ones.
I could make comments here that I would live to regret and so will keep my anger and thoughts to myself until a later date.
