It's a similar question to is it morally right to murder someone.
Think of the lives that might well have been saved if somebody had killed Hitler or many other sadists and bullies.
But let's take it down to a much less important level. I went to Carrow Road yesterday hoping that Norwich City would be beaten by Southampton in order to play what they call the longer game.
You see like thousands of others I cannot get behind our current head coach David Wagner. To me his tactics are wrong, he picks the wrong players and he has turned Norwich onto a defensive bore. And it seems the only chance we have of getting rid of him is if we continue to lose matches.
At the same time Southampton are battling hard for promotion, playing open attacking football and have a former Norwich legend in charge.
A couple of years ago I had a long telephone conversation with Russell Martin after we asked him to make the presentations at either our football or cricket club's awards ceremony. It might well have been the cricket team.
He graciously agreed to do this and rang me up and we chatted for the best part of an hour about football and many other things. Unfortunately Russell was unable to make the evening when Norwich stayed in the North of England between matches.
At Southampton's last home game the Prime Minister was present. He comes from Southampton. Russell Martin was asked about his presence at the game and said something along the lines of "I was aware he had come down for the match but wasn't interested in meeting him."
The game ended in a 1-1 draw which didn't really satisfy anyone. Norwich had just 20% of the play which considering the fact they were at home was pretty dreadful. They had just two shots on target and only woke up for the last 15 minutes. Watching Norwich has become so boring that lots of people around us just don't bother to turn up any longer.
Had quite a lengthy lay in, well lengthy for me anyway and didn't get up until after 9 am on New Year's morning but it's all relative. If you go to bed at 10 pm and get up at 7am you spend nine hours in bed. If you go to bed at midnight and get up at 9 am you spend the same amount of time in bed, which might be stating the obvious. I'm not sure why I said all that anyway.
How about we just draw a line under today and move on again tomorrow.
