Many of you will know about my love of the beautiful game and my involvement in it for over 60 years.
I was a great supporter of the women and girls side of the game in my years as chair of Hethersett Athletic FC. We had some of the top female players in Norfolk and won the Eastern Region Cup three years in a row.
We also had some of the best girls teams in the county and this helped our club to become a community charter club, the first in Norfolk.
I have to say that some of the club didn't actually share my enthusiasm for the female side of the club, considering it to be a drain on resources due to travelling distances involved.
In contrast I felt the women and girls side enhanced our club immeasurably and could have brought us national recognition. Sadly today, for a number of reasons, Hethersett no longer has a women's or girls team.
But going back to the national team. Well they are making us all proud and it's certainly better than watching those awful Prime Ministerial debates that are blighting our lives at the moment.
Well we have been on our travels again. Apologies for any mistakes in this blog but I'm writing it on my mobile for the first (and hopefully last) time.
Tomorrow I will start my latest travelogue which I know some of you enjoy reading.
