People in power are referred to as high ups but those underneath them aren't known as low downs but if we are briefed on a subject we get the lowdown but never the high up.
And so it goes on. We have a Great Britain but no Lesser Britain although some would argue otherwise. Thanks to David Walliams and Matt Lucas we have a little Britain but no Big Britain.
I must digress again here. David Walliams' real name is David Williams. He changed it to avoid confusion with another actor known as David Williams.
But back to our theme of word opposites. We can be overcharged and also undercharged, and as I've said we can have our ups and also our downs
Something that annoys me is stating what nationality I am on forms. Sometimes the answer is English but sometimes it's British and at other times it's United Kingdom. So we can say we are either English or British but United Kingdomish just doesn't work. But once again I digress let's get back to the comparison theme.
In Norfolk we have a Great Snoring and we also have a Little Snoring. There is a North Walsham and a South Walsham but no East or West Walsham. We have a Great Yarmouth but no Lesser Yarmouth, although again some would argue otherwise.
This theme will be continued in the future but I would love to hear of any other comparisons and non comparisons.
Today I have a few more pictures of Singapore for you.
