So yesterday we took off with the grand kiddles to hunt the model dinosaurs which are in place throughout the city. I think in two hours we saw about half of them and by then we were all shattered apart from the other threequarters who seems to have boundless energy when it comes to hunting down go go things.
Had my favourite lunch - mushy peas and pie followed by chips on Norwich Market. Then. before setting off for home. we went to the Italian Gelato place in Opie Street. If you go try the Sicilian Lemon (yum yum).
The first time we came across these highly decorated models was I believe in Vancouver Canada many years ago. Can't remember whether they were gorillas or some other creatures. Bears would be the obvious one. Then I remember SuperLambBananas in Liverpool. They were yellow coloured banana shaped lambs. Then Norwich joined in.
It was a hot day (hence the ice cream stop). There was only a very short queue to get into the Cathedral to see Dippy and I must admit I felt rather underwhelmed. Last time I saw this model it was in the National History Museum. There it dominated the main hall which is obviously smaller than the nave of the Cathedral. I wouldn't say the model was lost in the Cathedral but I don't think it dominated as I had expected it to. What do others who have visited think?
Included today are a few photos of our visit to Norwich in the sunshine. Quite a few were taken by budding six-year-old photographer Poppy who later on insisted on painting my face to look like a cat. Sadly the picture of this has already been lost but it did take some time to get the make-up off.
