At times it's just too ridiculous for words. For those who haven't seen it, the basic plot is man facing bankruptcy fakes his own life by pretending to drown in a canoe accident. His wife who is complicit to what's going on (although at times reluctantly so due to his controlling personality) then claims the insurance. I won't spoil it by saying how it turns out as there are still a couple of episodes to go.
But the point I want to make is how refreshing it is to have a gentle drama without gratuitous violence for the sheer sake of violence. I got that thought when trying to avoid Killing Eve which, like so many series, tries to out gross the one before. Is there wonder that so many people think that violence is acceptable nowadays thanks to what they view every day on television?

I'm not quite sure whether adverts for betting sites make me laugh or make me angry. Possibly a bit of both. You know the ones where they adopt a holier than thou attitude instructing those who bet to take a break, set a limit, enjoy a time out and bet responsibly. These companies make millions from people not taking a break, not setting a limit, not enjoying a time out and not betting responsibly. The only thing that would affect their profits is if people did set a limit and bet responsibly.
So having written all that, we stopped off on our return from North Norfolk to take in Fakenham Races. It's a small and friendly course and I think this was our second or possibly third visit. Got a couple of winners/places and ended up just losing £5 which is certainly my way of betting responsibly and having a decent afternoon.

We have a big meeting of Hethersett and the Meltons Sports Association tonight when we have to decide if it has run out of steam. The last meeting attracted just four people and maybe it's time to wind it up unless there is a big revival of interest. Only time will tell.
That's about it for today. You will have to forgive me for a slightly shorter blog today but time is hanging heavily and I have lots to catch up on.
