Many years ago we saw the Broadway production and that was very good as well, although we had been out to a steak restaurant beforehand and ate so much meat that I wondered whether it was going to stay in place during the show (it did).
Apparently for the London show the bird lady ("Feed the Birds") was played by none other than Petula Clarke. Which got me thinking that as I'm getting pretty ancient how old must Petula be? And the answer is an amazing 89. She will be 90 in November.
Whilst I've never been a huge fan I do like "Downtown" and "Don't Sleep in the Subway" (as if you would).
Neither song appeared in a playlist on Apple music that I listened to on yesterday's walk. I have given up listening to my own playlists simply because I know what's coming. Even if I put it on shuffle I pretty much know what's in the playlist so nothing comes as a surprise. But if I play the acoustic Apple playlist it comes up with some excellent tracks - many of which are favourite songs. But I never know what is coming next because I don't look at the list. I like a surprise.
I will now illustrate how much of an anorak I am. When I'm on my walks I like to de-liberate stones. Not sure if anyone else is stupid enough to do this. Whenever somebody has a drive consisting primarily of stones, the stones encroach on the pavement as if they have a mind of their own and have decided to liberate themselves from the driveway. I like to de-liberate some of these stones by kicking them back into the drive. It gives me a good feeling and I bet if you are reading this you will now do the same or at least think about it.
I talked yesterday about the impending closure of The Talk entertainment venue in Norwich and my memories of it. A regular reader Alan pointed out that previously the venue had been known as the Melody Rooms. I vaguely remember that. The closure has been confirmed in the local Media and a photo of Gene Pitney's appearance there, which I also mentioned, has appeared on social media. The date for this was given as November 12th, 1974. I question this date as I was definitely at this gig but when I looked up my personal diary entry for that day I found I was working in Cromer and certainly didn't go to see Gene Pitney.
Looking at the photograph closely I believe I can detect myself and Anne and some other friends we went with. Although the photo isn't very clear I'm pretty certain it is us. So that poses an interesting questions. Is the date given by the newspaper incorrect or is my diary entry incorrect? I have no reason to believe that the latter is the case. I have searched the internet for details of concerts played by Gene Pitney bit have found nothing of help. Incidentally Gene died in Cardiff during a British tour. He had a heart attack and was found in his hotel room. He was only 66 years of age.
If there's anyone reading this that can enlighten us on the date I would be very pleased.

Final random comment of the day. Why are some buses so dirty? I got the bus into Norwich on Saturday and it was like a mystery tour. The windows were so filthy that you couldn't see anything out of them. You might as well have been on the London Underground.
