Norwich City's final game in the Premiership. And once again we gave a gutless display to lose 5-0 against Tottenham and prove once again just why we have finished bottom of the league. This was an inept performance that at times bordered on the farce. But enough about football.

Sometimes I wonder where the ideas for my blogs come from. Yesterday for instance I couldn't summon up much enthusiasm to write a blog but I am committed to writing one every day.
Than later in the day I read it online and actually enjoyed what I had written. I find myself doing this quite a bit. Write the blog and then read it many hours later and it seems much fresher than when I wrote it.
I spent Saturday evening writing an archive article for my Hethersett Herald e magazine looking back 10 years to when the Olympic flame visited Hethersett. This was a real big deal at the time.
This may all be new to many of you but in 2012 Hethersett had an Olympic Committee which organised events in support of London 2012. We were so successful that we organised more events than any other village, town or city in the UK and I think you will agree that's some achievement. We had swimming marathons, talent shows, come and try sports days and much much more and as a result the flame made its first and only deviation from the official route on its way to the Olympic Park.
Over 1500 people from the village turned up to see the flames arrival at Hethersett High School.. The Olympic Committee eventually changed its name to the Olympic Legacy and was eventually subsumed into Hethersett and the Melton's Sports Association.
Sadly we have just wound the sports association up. In its day it was a Very vibrant group bringing together various sports clubs and giving out grants through South Norfolk Council. Sadly the enthusiasm waned after lockdown and the last two meetings were very poorly attended and so the decision was regrettably taken.
A few other village groups failed to resurface after lockdown including Hethersett Society, Hethersett Pensioners and The Heart of Hethersett Bereavement Support Group.
Before coming back for the football match we paid a flying visit to Sheringham Park to catch the last of the rhode, roode, rhude - oh bugger those highly colourful flowers that I can't spell. Despite it being shortly after 9 am there were lots of people there already. "There's going to be a huge number of people up here this afternoon," I said to the other threequarters, referring to North Norfolk as a whole. The sun was out and it was getting warmer by the minute.
Hope you like some of my photos of the rhode, roode, oh the flowers.

Final thought for the day seen on the fitness centre/gym wall:
"Winners train, losers complain." Seemed rather apt bearing in mind that Norwich ended up bottom of the league this year. Not so much the end of an era as the end of an error.
