Usually on a Bank Holiday we would go out somewhere and this year we should have been returning from France before going down to Oxfordshire for a few days and then on to Hereford.
But of course that went the way of all things. So, instead, we decided to stay in Hethersett and the lovely weather helped to make that a very pleasant decision.
So firstly we walked to Café Kin for a takeaway iced coffee and smoothie (not to mention gluten-free Brownie which was positively wonderful). Our pictures include one of Café Kin's mother and son team of Maxine and Ethan. Then we set out to find the new woodland art trail set up by Craig Broughton and Katie Utting. There were lots of families out looking for the beasts and they weren't difficult to find (the beasts that is, not the families).
Most of them are clustered around the parish pit. So if you know where that is you won't have too much trouble discovering them. You can get to the pit via either Cedar Road or across the fields at the end of New Road. Each time I skirt the new development close to Cedar Road I can't help going back over 1,800 years when it was a substantial Roman settlement (or certainly a villa) - something I am still researching to write about one day.
I reckon we found most of the beasties. There are a couple included above although I have promised Craig and Katie that I won't publish too many for a few weeks so that people can discover them for themselves. I am aware, however, that there are a lot of people still in isolation who would like to see some photos.
Had a chat with lots of people on the way back and John and Viv Mountain asked me to take a picture of the wild area in their front garden which I was very happy to do as it was very colourful. John just happens to be my third cousin - something I found out not so long ago. We then popped into Oak square to take a photo of the window of Hodge Podge. Hope you enjoy the images from today's Steward Stroll of something like 5.7 miles.
Below is a repeat of the photograph outside the Methodist Church in 2008 which I published this morning, but this time with names.
And that concludes today's blogs. Please note we have got through this one without mentioning Dominic Cummings. I'm just off to Northumberland for a quick game of tennis but will come straight back as I don't want to break the lockdown rules!!
