If you have it's because we have been on our travels again. This time down to Eastbourne to meet our new granddaughter Lyla. You had a photo of her yesterday and thanks for all the lovely comments.
But before travelling we had the first forget me not cafe of the year. It was just a coffee morning and chat apart from the fact that granddaughter Poppy read out her Zebbit story that she had entered into the BBC 500 words competition and which I published on this blog. She did very well and everyone enjoyed it. She's now going to read it for an edition of the Wymondham Talking Newspaper For The Blind.
After the cafe we set off for Eastbourne on the train and here we go again. People say I shouldn't criticise the rail companies, but they really do seem unable to run an efficient service. The last time we travelled we had major delays due to 1/ a points failure and 2/ a level crossing failure.
This time it was an unscheduled stop at Waterbeach due to a points failures at Cambridge. Same old same old and regular passengers must be getting heartedly sick of continual problems affecting their service while they watch their fares going up and up. Oh and there were other delays due to flooding, Acts of God and just about any other catastrophe such as mice on the line or the novels of George Orwell not being available from W H Smith.
We eventually did make it to Eastbourne and said hello to Lyla. Beau the dog needed lots of attention too and loved her squeaky toy we brought with us. We brought two suitcases one of which was full of presents.
We are staying in an air b and b apartment and it's not too far from the train station. Last year we stayed in the apartment from hell in York. This year our bijou apartment is bright, modern and very comfortable and I think the correct phrase is well appointed. So it will be a good stay. There's even a Nespresso coffee machine with coffee pods.
Before I close today's blog another rumination on our train journey.
I do feel sorry for ladies using the lavatory/toilet/loos. They are usually pretty disgusting and I certainly wouldn't want to sit on the seats unless I absolutely had to. I'm sure you get my drift on that one and can see where I'm coming from.
The general cleanliness of the train from Cambridge to Gatwick was dreadful with mess just chucked on the floor. Sometimes I wonder just what our country is coming to. Actually replace the word sometimes with the word often in that sentence.
Speak to you tomorrow with more details of our travels.
