They were mainly of that area around Cabo Girao which is thought to be the highest promontory in Europe. The thing I didn't realise about Madeira until I looked it up is that it is closer to Africa than to mainland Europe and Portugal.
On the plane out of the island I had a window seat and could see just how short the runway is. There's absolutely no margin for error as at the end of the runway is a sheer drop into the sea. Made for slightly uncomfortable viewing as I watched us climb into the sky.
Apparently our Easyjet plane was just two days old. Looked no different to any of the others with no refinements or changes.
My photos today are more interesting (hopefully) and are of our Sunday visit to Riviera Brava. Hope you enjoy.

Well I did it. Finished off Hethersett Herald and it's now ready to read. The short month of February and the holiday made it something of a struggle to get it out and now it's full speed ahead to produce the next one as well. I've also started work on the next Good News magazine. Damn holidays. They play havoc with the old schedules!

Having finished reading the book on Newhaven Court at Cromer, I'm now reading a new biography of George Harrison by Philip Norman entitled "The Reluctant Beatle."
I haven't got to his solo career yet but so far the book has been a huge disappointment as it's not really about George so much as a retelling for the thousandth time of the Beatles story. So far I haven't learnt anything new about the Beatles or Harrison apart from the fact that Lennon and McCartney occasionally went on camping trips together to other parts of the country (big deal). Still I will persevere. Hopefully it will be more about about Harrison once the Beatles have split. At the moment you could call me The Reluctant Reader.
Before going on holiday I did see a copy of Prince Harry's book Spare in Norwich Library. I feel I should read it, although it's not top of my list.
I wrote recently about seeking out just where Newhaven Court was in Cromer and a few people pointed out it's a pretty dull area with just a load of houses. But that for me misses the point. I still want to imagine that house in that area. I guess that's just what history is all about for me. Imagining what was once there and seeing if there are any ghosts lurking.

Not sure what message the recent by election in Rochdale sent out apart from showing a country in chaos. I hardly feel that George Galloway is the kind of man you want representing you - but hey ho what do I know?
Incidentally Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer was at the Norwich v Sunderland match on Saturday, guest of Ed Balls who quite rightly supports Norwich. I bet he didn't get soaked like us or have a pie and cup of Bovril. Come to think of it he probably didn't have to pay for his ticket either - freeloader.
Back to Rochdale. Being in Madeira I forgot there was a by election. This one finished with our illustrious Prime Minister (I'm being sarcastic there) going public and warning the country against extremism as if his party stands for everything right and everything good. Of course in public he's going to be chipper and optimistic in what will be an election year. Underneath it all he must know that he's a dead man walking after the shambles his party have made in Governing.
As usual I always put a proviso on my political comments. I support no political party but just comment on how I see things. I am not a socialist but genuinely believe that this has been the worst Government in my lifetime and I probably did vote for them.
Do I think Labour will do any better when they get into power? Probably not and that makes me very sad about the state of our country. We need some real leadership and not a bunch of self serving politicians.
Enjoy the photographs.
