That's what some people call Burnham Market which isn't at the sea anyway but a couple of miles inland. It's all because well to do Londoners have second homes there. We took the pensioners special from Weybourne.
t wasn't really a pensioners special but it was full of pensioners. I have a theory which is a little more than a theory. Wrinklies and crinklies (that includes us by the way) avoid the School holidays before coming away to Norfolk but as soon as the schools go back in they come whilst the weather is still good. And they all have bus passes (us included). As a result the buses get full in either direction. Our bus to Wells was full.
almost got into a fight but not in the way you might imagine. I offered my seat to a lady and her husband who were older than us. Lady thanked me and sat down, gentleman thanked me and said "No you sit down." "No you sit down, " I replied. "No you sit down" he replied. "No you sit down, I replied in a slightly raised tone of voice." He did. I stood the rest of the way.
Just after getting off the bus I got a call from Richard licensee of the Queen's Head back home. He wanted to impart some news about the future of the venue and I will pass this on after I have met with him early next week. "Blasted camera" I shouted to the other threequarters. Many years ago we bought a small but quite expensive camera which has so many settings that I've never come to terms with it. Just get a load of this which came up through the viewing window. PSD 46 three bars. Width 64. Star and lots more. What does that all mean to a bear like me with a small brain? So I'm all confused.
I have included some of the photos so you will have to excuse the standard. I'm not happy with them but that's the way it goes. We had to change buses at Wells and had time for a cup of coffee which cost £3.20. Remember that for a few paragraphs time. Got off the next bus at Chelsea, sorry Burnham.
It's one of those new buses where you get a pedicure. Actually I made that up but it's all new with charging points at every seat and I'm not talking about the price of tickets. Now we sat in a courtyard of a cafe where coffee was £2.80 in other words cheaper than in Wells. The food was good and less expensive as well. There wasn't a lot more to our trip and we set off for home. On the journey home we saw a sign saying: "Please drive carefully - children, horses and an old man live here." *. *. *
Yesterday I had another encounter on the buses. Had to wait the best part of half an our and the usual double decker was only a single decker so consequently it was pretty full. I took one of those seats that say "please vacate for elderly, people or those with limited mobility." I sat facing what I will only refer to as a man of significant girth. Two ladies got on and he stood up and I followed. "My goodness how kind, how embarrassing," the ladies said. That's two good deeds in two days.lick here to edit.
