If not please give it a look at www.hethersettherald.weebly.com. You will be able to read about famous people from the village, about the history of our buildings and also a host of topics covering the village from Roman times through to the Domesday Book to the Middle Ages and onto modern times.
Last night I added a list of awards the village has received over the past 15 years and also a history of the village's Olympic Open Weekends. I also updated the 1991 visit by Manchester United footballers to the Memorial Playing Field and the 1993 May Day carnival.
If you are new to the village you probably won't be aware that in 2013 we became the first village, town or city in the United Kingdom to be awarded a Prime Minister's Big Society award. Two years previous to that we were given an Olympic Inspire Award and in 2012 made the national news, becoming the only place in the world to have an off route visit from the official Olympic flame in recognition of the fact that we had organised more events per head in support of the 2012 London Olympic Games than any other place in the UK. No other place in the entire world has enjoyed that accolade.
For some time I have been wanting to look through my files on the village's Olympic journey and put together a piece. So I spent much of a very wet and dull Wednesday trying to make sense of it all. I have published the article although it is still in something of a raw state and needs some updating and photographs which I am currently still trying to find. But I wanted to make it available as soon as possible.
