We went to watch the local football team play Chorley - mainly because Harry B was playing for Lowestoft. Harry lived with us for two years when he was with Norwich City Academy and he is now looked upon as a member of the family. Lowestoft won 2-0.
Many is the Saturday afternoon I spent at Crown Meadow in the 1970s reporting on the fortunes (both up and down) of the local football team. We had a few problems finding the ground as the road layouts in this Suffolk coastal town have certainly changed somewhat. So it was difficult to recognise some of the old haunts.
Today we rounded off the cricket season with a match between Hethersett President's Eleven and a club team. The club team won, but the outcome was largely irrelevant. It was a lovely family day in late summer/early autumn sunshine and augers well for next season when cricket starts again in April. There's always a sadness to the end of the season as it marks the end of summer - how time flies.
