I singled out "young people" getting together as one of the problems of the pandemic and people pointed out that people of all ages are causing concern.
I thoroughly accept this and wanted to put the record straight. I simply singled out raves as they are the worst kind of example of pandemic-busting. To start with they are illegal anyway and those attending have no respect either for the law or other people, It was as simple as that. I firmly believe that 99% of young people are responsible citizens. 'nuff said.
There was a good response to my pieces about the shutting of the permissive paths with most people understanding why this has happened. I hope to have much more on our local countryside situation in the future.
Today I have been working on a major article on the education revolution currently going on in Hethersett with major changes/improvements to all three schools in the village. It's the biggest change since education was made compulsory way way back in the mists of time.

As you wander around the village chatting to various people you get a decent handle on what is happening and I must admit that some of it is unsavoury.
I have heard lots of tales of rudeness and arrogance. I had hoped that added tolerance would be one of the by-products of the lockdown, but I'm not sure this is happening. I guess a rude person is a rude person irrespective of whether the weather is hot or cold or whether there's a pandemic or not.

Was delighted a couple of days ago to have a cup of tea with a gentleman by the name of Chris Cobb. Chris brought me a book written by his Great Uncle Fred Cobb. The name may mean something to older readers. Fred worked for many years on the railways and was Norwich born and bred. He wrote an autobiography of his life in the city which has only now been published by Chris years after Fred's death.
I'm looking forward to reading it and will be writing a feature for the next edition of the Norfolk Ancestor which is the magazine of the Norfolk Family History Society and a quarterly publication that I edit. I will also have more on this blog about it in a couple of weeks or so once I have finished reading a biography of Syd Barrett who was a founder member of the rock band Pink Floyd.
