George's picture of the King's Head comes from May 1966. The images of Kett's Oak were taken almost 90 years apart and the photo of St Remigius Church was shot in 1940. A few years ago I was in contact with Jonathan Plunkett who gave me permission to use his father's images for which I am very grateful.
I am very happy also to have been in touch once again with Lewis Buckingham. Lewis, who lives in Australia, has a huge interest in our village which was the home of his grandfather and many other Buckinghams. A couple of years ago Lewis sent the village a book on the history of his family and this is available to borrow from Hethersett Library.
Lewis is undertaking a one place study of Hethersett concentrating on the village between Enclosure in 1800 and the First World War. The population of the village in 1801 was 696 and in 1911 1093. Today we have over 6,000 and this is likely to eventually rise to 10,000.
Lewis will be writing a regular column on the history of Hethersett in Hethersett Herald from the next edition which I'm hoping to publish towards the end of next week. In the meantime if you would like to read more about Lewis' one place study pop along to

Now off for the daily ramble so look out for some photos of that this afternoon.
