I'm not sure whether it had anything to do with Brexit but I was contacted by the company a few months ago to say they were no longer hosting websites for the UK.
So I am now trying to re-do many of the files on my Hethersett Herald site at www.hethersettherald.weebly.com. This will be less cluttered than the old site and will be kept up to date. It will also feature articles on village history and many of the topics covered in my daily blog which has received so many kind comments. Thanks to everyone who has left messages of support.
That takes me to today's walk. Off to the parish church once again. This time it was a little more poignant than before. Over the past three weeks Anne has lost two brothers - one to the virus and one from other illness. Today was the funeral of the first and, taking place in Yorkshire, we were unable to be there. So we stood in the churchyard at the relevant time at the grave of our grandson Oliver.
Did manage to take a few photographs which are at the top of this page. A couple of years ago (during the Beast from the East whiteout) I put together an index of graves in the churchyard which was based on a massive body of work by Edmund Perry who has documented the graves. I would like ultimately to take a picture of as many gravestones as possible and also to put the index online in some form that I haven't quite worked out yet.
Did manage to take photos of the graves of two of the four servicemen buried in the graveyard - Lieutenant John Gifford Brown and Corporal Charles Holmes. Both were married to women from the village but I'm still researching other details about them.
Thanks once again for reading my blog. Back tomorrow to articles on village history as it looks like being a wet day which could put paid to our usual Steward Stroll.
